A Guide to Green Office Design
Companies are going green and by going green the organizations are become environment friendly. Organizations are designing their commercial offices keeping in mind their responsibility towards the environment and are contributing to that. Going green does not mean that you install flower pots and make a small lawn inside your office to give it a green effect or paint your office green.
Going green would be an environment friendly office where energy is used efficiently… here are a few steps that you can take care off while designing your office
Recycled Paper: Your first step for your office can be the easiest and can be good on your pocket also. You can start using recycled paper for your printers, faxes. You can also talk to your vendor to supply you with recycled note books etc… they are cheaper compared to normal paper you use and are aside from being lighter on your pocket, they are lighter on the environment also
LED’s and Energy Savers: Using bulbs is in no way energy efficient. While you are at it, you can also talk to your contractor and get LED’s installed which are brighter and use lesser energy as compared to bulbs or tube lights. Or if you cannot get hold of LED’s try to get energy saver bulbs installed at least. This way, the electricity bill of your office will go down while you get your energy star ratings.
Installing Green Technology: No matter how many times you direct the staff to switch off extra lights and turn them off while leaving, someone somewhere will leave one or two lights on. The best way to counter this is to install new smart controls with sensors which will turn off the lights or fans when not required. Not the cheapest in the beginning but you will surely smile when you take a look at your bill by the end of the month.
Now, where to find such office design. The answer lies with UK Business Directory, where you can logon and search for vendors and contractors with expertise in green technology.
